The annual New Year's ocean swim was delayed this year because of early morning fog on January 1. So the four pictured below (Tim, Jim, Chuck and Don) were able to hit the ocean at 8:20 am on January 2nd. with the ocean water temp published at 59 degrees. The swim route this morning had to be modified since the 18th Street Lifeguard Tower has moved. We swam from 18th Street north to Marine Avenue, then swam back to the 14th Street Lifeguard Tower and walked back to 18th Street.
All in all, the swim this morning was not nearly as bad as anticipated and we all agreed we could easily have swum in 58 degree water.
Also, mark your Ocean Swim Calendar for Sunday, February 5th, to celebrate Don's 70th year birthday and Tim's 53rd birthday, both of were born on February 4.
