Captain Alex has announced he may be home in time to swim the August 4, 2013 Pier to Pier ocean swim although he said he would be out of shape as far as ocean swimming goes. That means he probably will not break 50 minutes even if the current is with us. As far as excuses go, Chuck can also say the same since I will be on Africa Safari from July 6 to 27, with limited opportunity to swim at the Cape of Good Hope at the end of the trip.
Friday, May 24, 2013, Don and I walked a little beyond First Street in MB and swam north back to 18th Street in what seemed to be a contrary ocean current going south. Warm temp seemed OK at 65 or so.
Sunday, May 26, 2013, we had 2 new swimmers join our 18th Street Pod: Patrick and Randy. In addition, Jim, Don, Julie and Chuck swam in what seemed a northerly current but the waves were frequent making it harder than usual to swim out and cautious when swimming back in. The water temp seemed to be 64-65 degrees. An article also appeared in today's LA Times on the great white shark. Monday, May 27, 2013, we had 4 swimmers, Tim with a cold and without a wetsuit, Don, Julie and Chuck. Johnnie walked but did not swim and No show Hallett had a cold and chose not to swim but he did join us for breakfast at Shellback's, to wit:
Don, Julie, Johnnie, and Chuck
Jim, Don and Julie
California Omelette with tomatoes
Huevos Rancheros
