One week before the August 6, 2023 ISF 2-mile Pier to Pier swim, swimmers met at my house on 18th Street to do a final swim workout. I took the picture below of the group before the ocean swim practice:

Although, I have 3 extra parking spaces at my house, Randy was the only one that drove his car, everyone else rode their bikes or walked:
Since I did not swim with the group, instead walking 2 miles with Marilyn, I took the following picture of the pod beginning their swim. If you can blow up the picture below and look between the white umbrella and the 18th Street Lifeguard Tower, you can just make out a dark spot some two hundred yards out:
When I returned from our walk, I noticed a bike was chained to the post at the bottom of 18th street and assumed it belonged to a swimmer. Sure enough, Pete had just returned to my house and told me he had entered the ocean after the initial group and swum to the MB Pier and back. Onnalee reported she has swum a little over a mile and a half:
