Unusally High Ocean Level

Following the 8.8 earthquake in Chile on Feb 27, 2010, ocean levels did not rise as a result of any tsunami later that day. However, at high tide on Sunday Feb 28, the ocean extended inward approximately 30 feet from the embankment as shown by these pictures taken two hours after hide tide. There were no surfers and certainly not the 19th Street Ocean Swimmers. Double click to enlarge.

Farther north in Marina del Rey, the hide tide takes its toll.
