Ocean Swim on December 21, 2008

In what may well end up as the last ocean swim for us in 2008, Don Nelson and I swam in 58 degree water and celebrated the winter solstice today, Dec 21, 2008. We swam from 18th St. to 27th St. and back in a little over 30 minutes. The sun was out and helped removed the sting in swimming in 58 degree ocean water, even with a wetsuit. Considering the sun was warm, the water clarity excellent (we could see the sand on the bottom, at a depth of 10 plus feet, swimming back to 18th St. in alignment with the MB Pier), this swim this late in the year was remarkable and bears recording in the blog.
